Description

Some character art for my OC Aura :> Not sure if I got the got lighting and shading right :s been ages since I've done art with a strong difference between light and dark. Her strength comes from the element wind and can be used as a weapon in the form of a bow and arrow. Her design and story is a work in progress.

While there are many DA members who produce a great deal of art devoted to their favorite fictional characters. There are also many other members who produce pictures with story characters of their own creation; and it was recently on the pages of the critiques requested section that deviantART member “annabelle-l” introduced us to her character Aura in the picture she calls “Aura – Fire at Night”. And so far, judging from the picture, I'd say Aura's off to a pretty good start. She's well drawn, her shading and coloring work well together, and I like the way her costume looks as well. The artist voiced concerns about her use of light and dark in this picture, but I believe they actually work well together. The only part of the picture I question is the look on Aura's face. In the picture, she's obviously in a fight, and though she's there physically, her face makes it look as though her mind's 100 miles away. I think she should have been given a more serious look, as though she's ready for trouble and focused on the task at hand. But other than that I like this picture, it works well; and hope it won't be too long before we see Aura again.
